System config:
SQL2005 Enterprise in Windows2008 Cluster
2 Nodes
1 SQL- Instanz
ca. 20 DB's
Is it possible to change Sql2005 Enterprise to SQL2005 Standard Edition and
how can i do this?

Cannot open SQL 2000 default database

I have SBS 2003 Premium with SQL Server 2000 (don't know if it's SP4 or not).
I don't know how I did this, but when ever I try to open my SQL Server
Enterprise Manager I get the following error:
A connection could not be established to (LOCAL).
Reason: Cannot open user default database. Login failed.

Connect to a server in another domain

Machine A in domain A is running SQL 2008. From there I can see my other SQL
Servers in domain B. - great
When I'm on machine B in domain B, I can explore files on machine A
However, when I'm on Machine B I cannot see SQL Server A. I did management
studio 2005->Connect->Network Servers->Browse for more... it only shows me

What are these resource URI's in the connection string? I do not see any
resource files in the VS 2008 project.

SQL Management Studio and VS 2008

I'm a little confused about running SQL Express with VS 2008.
VS 2008 installed SQL Express as part of normal installation, but it only
installed the SQL Server engine and Configuration Tools. I would like to
have a copy of SQL Management Studio on my machine, but I didn't want to run
a complete installation of SQL Server. I thought I could install the Client

Design Question

I am configuring a 2 node windows 2008 failover cluster for SQL 2008. I
want to put three instances in the cluster. Is it a better design to put
all three instances in one cluster group or have 3 separate servers? I see
that both options are available. My thought is that if I put all instances

I didnt install or configure the cluster but it appears to be setup correctly
per Microsoft standards. Now I'm attempting to test the failover of it
before we add any databases to it.
When I initiate a failure of the SQL Server Service on the active node from
the Cluster Administrator or just stop the service from the Services snap-in,

Linked server over internet not working

src sql server is a sql server 2005 instance - srcserver\sql2005
dest sql server is a sql server 2008 instance - destserver\sql2008
Both TCP and named pipes are enabled, remote connections are enabled on both
src and dest servers.

Hi,
I have this problem:
different client from differet customer sends errors about disconnection
from the application "sql connectivity error".
Following the app developer we set with cliconfg Tcpip then named pipe, but
sometimes this will not solve the problem or even it causes the application

I'm not sure I'm at the right place, but here it goes.
Using vs2008 and adding security using the default ASPNETDB.MDF database, my
provider informs
me they do not support that. So, I've managed to get it converted to MSSQL
and upload it to the host.
Now I must make changes to the webconfig file.

on the same kluster , Sql-server 2005, windows 2003 enterprise edition 64-bit
